EVALUATION: Evaluations conducted as defined in West Virginia Board of Education Policy 5310 and BCBOE Policy 3250.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

CONTRACT: On an as needed basis, for the 2026-2027 school year.

SALARY: $25 per hour

CERTIFICATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Employee of Braxton County Schools.
  • Previous IT experience preferred.

Job Summary:

The IT Support Assistant provides hands-on technical support and assistance to the county technology department. This position assists with the repair, maintenance, and setup of technology devices and equipment across district facilities, and supports the technology team in daily operations to ensure reliable technology services for staff and students.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Alcohol and controlled substances which affect employee productivity, safety or judgment in the workplace will not be tolerated.

Staff members serve as role models for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining computers, laptops, iPads, tablets, printers, and other technology equipment, etc.

  • Support device deployment, inventory, imaging, and asset management

  • Respond to help desk tickets and provide first-level technical support to staff and students

  • Assist with network, audio/visual, and classroom technology setup as directed

  • Perform other technology-related duties as assigned by the Technology Director

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and community members.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a positive, student-centered approach.

  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and communication.

  • Ensure compliance with all district policies, safety protocols, and West Virginia Department of Education requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.
