Summary:
The IT Support Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of information technology systems within a healthcare organization. This position is responsible for providing first- and second-level technical support to staff, maintaining hardware and software systems, and supporting the secure and efficient use of digital tools critical to patient care and administrative functions. With a focus on reliability, security, and user satisfaction, the IT Support Specialist helps uphold compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA while enabling clinical and non-clinical teams to perform their duties effectively. This entry-level role offers a foundational opportunity to grow within the healthcare IT ecosystem, contributing to the technological backbone that supports quality patient outcomes and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely and effective technical support to healthcare staff, including physicians, nurses, and administrative personnel.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and peripheral issues across desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and medical equipment.
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations, printers, and other end-user devices in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of operating systems, applications, and security updates across the organization.
  • Monitor and respond to helpdesk tickets via the IT service management platform, ensuring timely resolution and user satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to maintain system backups, disaster recovery protocols, and cybersecurity safeguards.
  • Document technical issues, solutions, and procedures to build and maintain a knowledge base for future reference.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and system upgrades with minimal disruption to clinical and administrative workflows.
  • Ensure all IT activities comply with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy and security regulations.

Requirements

Requirements:
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 0–1 year of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or technical customer service roles.
  • Strong understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and basic networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with healthcare IT systems such as EHR (Electronic Health Records), practice management software, or medical device integration is a plus.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, cybersecurity best practices, and data privacy principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, to support critical system operations.
