GUGCS IT Support Technician (Jamaica)

Job Description:As an IT Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining a portfolio of initiatives to support our Technology goals and growth. You will support and troubleshoot desktop hardware/software problems. This individual will work across various GUG campuses (2 are located in Long Island City, Queens, and 2 are located in Jamaica, Queens).
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will update systems, troubleshoot problems, and provide hands-on support for IT issues within our organization. Your primary responsibilities are to provide technical support for computers, network, systems, and to troubleshoot issues encountered by GUG staff and students. Your duties include working with software, computer hardware, printers, etc. You will assist the IT Coordinator with network management, database administration, and systems monitoring as well as support in any other related IT task assigned.
- Providing technical support for users across two school buildings (elementary and middle school buildings)
- Support IT Coordinator with all IT projects, tasks, tech requests, and networking
- Monitoring computer hardware inventories
- Monitor networking equipment and servers
- Installing new software or software upgrades
- Keep systems up-to-date through operating systems upgrades
- Troubleshooting for system errors
- Respond to IT issues; hardware maintenance, software, networking, etc.
- Evaluate connectivity issues, equipment, and software
- Set up equipment for new users, including student laptop carts and staff laptop devices
- Support set up and repairs of wired phones, copiers, printers, cell phones, wireless access points, projectors, digital smart boards, Chromecasts, speakers, and monitors
- Install, test, and monitor servers, firewalls, and new software
- Assist with Servers, LAN/WAN technologies, computer repair/troubleshooting software, networks, virus protection, Wi-Fi technology, and more
- Other task as needed

- Salary range is $40,000-$50,000
Education:
- High school degree or equivalent is required; Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field preferred
- 0-2 years of experience troubleshooting network/computer related issues. Experience as a help desk technician, computer technician, or IT support preferred
