IT Support Specialist

Position Summary

The IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and assistance to employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining computer systems, and ensuring the smooth operation of the organization's technology infrastructure. This role serves as the primary point of contact for IT-related issues and works to resolve problems efficiently while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level and second-level technical support for desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and other IT equipment.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Respond to help desk tickets, phone calls, emails, and in-person requests for technical assistance.
  • Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, operating system, and application issues.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, passwords, and access permissions.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding employees, including equipment deployment and account provisioning.
  • Monitor and maintain IT inventory, including hardware, software licenses, and technology assets.
  • Document technical issues, resolutions, and support procedures.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.
  • Assist with system upgrades, software deployments, and technology projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company security policies and data protection standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on the use of technology systems and applications.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of IT support or help desk experience.
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems, Microsoft 365 applications, and basic networking concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting computer hardware and software issues.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple support requests.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft certifications.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Azure, ticketing systems, and remote support tools.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and endpoint management solutions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional travel between company locations may be required.
