The OpportunityWe are looking for a skilled and motivated IT Systems Administrator to join our Information Technology team. This is a generalist role built for someone who enjoys working across the full spectrum of IT infrastructure - from cloud environments and enterprise networking to telephony and end-user support.You will serve as a key escalation point for complex technical issues and play a direct role in high-impact projects that strengthen our agency's technology foundation. This role offers a genuine opportunity to contribute meaningfully, expand your skill set, and work across a wide range of modern technologies - including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, virtualization, firewalls, and multi-layered networking environments.
What We're Looking ForEducation: An Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred. We recognize that skills and demonstrated experience matter - an equivalent combination of education, training, and hands-on experience will be considered.Experience: A minimum of three years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, network administration, or a closely related IT role. Familiarity with HIPAA privacy and security requirements is a plus.Technical Skills: Hands-on experience supporting Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, servers, workstations, firewalls, and wired/wireless networks. Familiarity with telephony environments (POTS, PBX, VoIP) is preferred.Automation Mindset: A demonstrated ability to identify and automate routine tasks, with experience in scripting or equivalent technical approaches.Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts clearly for users at all levels of technical familiarity.Certifications: Technical certifications in Microsoft technologies, networking, cybersecurity, or systems administration are preferred. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required for travel between agency locations.What You'll DoInfrastructure Support & Administration- Serve as a hands-on resource for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of physical and virtual servers, workstations, firewalls, and wired and wireless network infrastructure across OSI layers 1-7.Telephony Systems- Support and maintain agency telephony environments, including POTS, PBX, and VoIP systems.Cloud & Identity Management- Administer and optimize Azure and Microsoft 365 environments. Maintain Active Directory and Group Policy with a focus on security, standardization, and operational reliability.Escalated Technical Support- Partner with the help desk team to resolve complex issues escalated from tier-one support, coordinating with vendors when needed to drive timely resolution.Automation & Scripting- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes and develop creative scripting solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.System Documentation & Performance- Document system configurations, analyze performance, and maintain clear records that support continuity, compliance, and institutional knowledge.Project Leadership- Lead and contribute to new system implementations and enhancements, collaborating across teams to deliver solutions aligned with agency priorities.Standards & Security- Establish and maintain standards for the administration and security of all system components, including servers, network devices, user workstations, and peripherals.
