This position serves as a primary technical resource for Microsoft 365, identity and access, endpoint management, collaboration services, messaging, and cloud-based business technologies.

The successful candidate will provide hands-on administration and advanced troubleshooting across Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Defender, and related services. The role works closely with the Information Security Manager to implement approved security requirements, while remaining primarily responsible for platform administration, operational reliability, user lifecycle support, technical documentation, and service improvement.
Colonna's Shipyard is a leading provider of ship repair, fabrication, and overhaul services to the maritime industry. This full-time, onsite position may require occasional flexibility in working hours and work beyond a standard

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Administer and support Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender, and related cloud services.
    • Manage user and administrator accounts, groups, role assignments, licenses, authentication methods, shared resources, and access throughout the employee lifecycle.
    • Administer device enrollment, configuration profiles, compliance policies, application deployment, update policies, and endpoint-management processes through Microsoft Intune.
    • Configure and maintain Exchange Online mailboxes, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, mail contacts, transport-related settings, retention configurations, and mail-flow troubleshooting.
    • Support identity and access technologies including multifactor authentication, enterprise applications, application registrations, single sign-on, privileged roles, and approved Conditional Access configurations.
    • Maintain Microsoft Teams and SharePoint Online administrative settings, permissions, external-sharing configurations, lifecycle practices, and service integrations.
    • Administer operational components of Microsoft Defender and related security platforms; investigate alerts and coordinate security concerns with the Information Security Manager.
    • Implement approved security, governance, retention, data-protection, and compliance configurations established by IT leadership and the Information Security Manager.
    • Monitor service health, platform advisories, administrative alerts, licensing changes, and system capacity; coordinate corrective actions and communicate service impacts.
    • Provide advanced escalation support for complex issues involving cloud identity, endpoints, messaging, collaboration services, enterprise applications, and Microsoft 365 integrations.
    • Use PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, APIs, administrative portals, and approved automation methods to perform repeatable administration, reporting, troubleshooting, and bulk changes.
    • Create and maintain system documentation, configuration standards, administrative procedures, diagrams, inventories, ownership records, change records, and troubleshooting guides.
    • Manage and support third-party SaaS platforms and integrations assigned to the role, including access, licensing, configuration, vendor coordination, and technical escalation.
    • Participate in technology implementations, migrations, tenant changes, software deployments, and integrations; conduct testing and verify compatibility and operational readiness.
    • Coordinate with the Information Security Manager, infrastructure personnel, support technicians, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and supportable technology services.
    • Maintain working awareness of Power Platform, Power Automate, and business workflow solutions to support integrations and troubleshooting; dedicated workflow development is not the primary focus of this position.
    • Prepare system-health reports, project updates, risk summaries, and recommendations for IT leadership.
    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Strong understanding of cloud services, identity, endpoints, messaging, collaboration platforms, networks, and enterprise applications.
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and document corrective and preventive actions.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple operational and project priorities.
    • Ability to explain technical issues and recommendations clearly to technical staff, business stakeholders, and leadership.

    About Company

Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is located in the historic Berkley section of Norfolk, Virginia and is the oldest continuous family owned and operated private shipyard in the United States. Founded in 1875 by Charles J. Colonna, a 26 year old ship carpenter with limited resources, the early business was limited to pier-side repairs. Within 2 years, Charles had added his first marine railway powered by two horses that had a lift capacity of about 40 tons, and he was off and running. Although over 140 years old, Colonna’s Shipyard continues to maintain its commitment to modernization, making the capital investments necessary for improvements in efficiency and productivity. Today, Colonna’s is a diverse industrial company with extensive capabilities in commercial and government ship repair, machining and large steel fabrication. Colonna’s strength is our employees. We employ the best and the brightest in the shipyard industry and we are proud of all that they do. From welders and ship fitters to government contract specialists, we have the right people in place to make sure the job is completed to the highest standards.
