About this position:

The Louisiana Office of Tourism is committed to promoting Louisiana as a top travel destination and growing the state's tourism industry to make tremendous economic impacts in all 64 parishes. To accomplish that goal, we have developed strategic marketing initiatives to maximize our efforts.

This position serves as the IT Technical Architect responsible for a large scale, complex, statewide enterprise network. Primary responsibility is the architecture, planning, implementation, and management of a secure statewide enterprise network running secure statewide enterprise systems as well as providing WIFI for public access at over 60 sites statewide. Functions include performing administrative, supervisory, management, and highly complex technical work and responsibility for the design, procurement, installation, operation, and maintenance of the highly complex statewide information management network; does related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Seven years of experience in information technology; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus five years of experience in information technology; OR

An associates degree in information technology plus five years of experience in information technology; OR

A bachelor's degree plus five years of experience in information technology; OR

A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus four years of experience in information technology; OR

A master's degree plus four years of experience in information technology.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

  • Develops near term, annual, and multi-year plan considering the life cycle of hardware and software, DCRT budgetary constraints including competing budgetary needs, cybersecurity, and long term DCRT goals and vision.
  • Architects enterprise technical system solutions including, but not limited to, long term planning, design, and development of statewide enterprise networks including the DCRT statewide wireless network for public access.
  • Manages mission critical projects related to cybersecurity and networks to ensure a safe statewide enterprise network.
  • Determines timeline, budget, and manages internal and external resources
  • Manages projects to ensure that the projects meet our internal requirements, adheres to best IT practices including Cybersecurity best practices, and adheres to budget.
  • Coordinates the network, systems, and cybersecurity team to ensure the continuity of the statewide enterprise network, statewide enterprise systems, and maintenance of same.
  • Develops and recommends policies that are in accord with best practices related to Cyber Security. Primary content subject matter expert for IT Policies as they relate to Cybersecurity and appropriate use.
  • Supervises state-wide network administration; supervises the configuration of new servers/workstations, proper maintenance of system records, diagrams, and related documentation. Participates in the design, development, and implementation of operating systems and servers.

  • Participates in On-Call rotation providing end-user and technical support after hours, nights, and weekends per the Departments PPM 31, On-Call Pay Policy.
  • Provides technical expertise and assists with the procurement of network hardware, network data and voice telecommunications equipment, software, and related maintenance and support services for DCRTs information technology enterprise.

Working Hours: Full-time 8 am - 4:30 pm. This position may be required to work overtime and travel if necessary.
