Grant Program Assigned: _____ \n \nPOSITION SUMMARY \n \nThe IT Technician provides technical support and troubleshooting for district and campus technology systems to ensure reliable access for students, teachers, and staff. This role supports instructional technology, daily operations, and district initiatives by maintaining devices, networks, and classroom technology in a safe, efficient, and student-centered environment. The technician works closely with district and campus administrators, teachers, and students. \n \nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES \n \nTechnical Support & Troubleshooting Provide first-level technical support for staff and students, including hardware, software, and network issues. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, tablets, printers, and classroom peripherals. Support classroom technology such as interactive panels, projectors, document cameras, and audio systems. Respond to help desk tickets and walk-up requests in a timely manner. Support user authentication and access issues related to Single Sign-On (SSO) systems, including login errors and account synchronization issues . \n \nDevice & Systems Management Assist with deployment, setup, inventory, and maintenance of student and staff devices. Perform basic device repairs, imaging, updates, and replacements as needed. Support district-approved software applications, learning management systems, and instructional platforms. Maintain accurate inventory records of devices, peripherals, and technology assets. Assist with user account setup and access for district systems integrated with Single Sign-On (SSO) platforms. \n \nNetwork & Infrastructure Support Assist with basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi connectivity, login issues, printing). Escalate complex network or system issues to district/designated IT teams as appropriate. Support campus testing technology needs (state assessments, benchmarks, secure browsers). Troubleshoot basic authentication and access issues related to SSO-enabled applications and escalate complex issues to district IT as needed. \n \nInstructional & Staff Support Assist teachers with instructional technology integration and basic troubleshooting during instruction. Support students with login, access, and device usage issues. Provide basic training or guidance to staff and students on technology use and best practices. \n \nSafety, Security & Compliance Follow district policies related to data privacy, cybersecurity, and acceptable use. Support secure handling of student and staff data in compliance with FERPA and district guidelines. Monitor and report technology misuse, damage, or safety concerns. Follow district security protocols related to user authentication, password management, and SSO access to protect student and staff data. \n \nCommunication & Collaboration Communicate clearly and professionally with staff, students, and administrators. Work collaboratively with campus leadership and district IT personnel. Document issues, resolutions, and recurring problems for continuous improvement. \n \nProfessional Expectations Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and campus information. \u2022Patience and professionalism with students. Perform other job related duties as assigned. \n \nQUALIFICATIONS High school diploma/GED required; College coursework in Information Technology/Associate's degree preferred Minimum 2 years experience in applicable area. Experience providing technical support; experience in a public school district or charter strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience with Windows OS, Chrome OS, and basic networking concepts. Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO) platforms (e.g., Google Workspace SSO, Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, or similar systems). Experience working with a wide range of populations: personnel, students, parents, and other stakeholders. \n \nOTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other conference room/classroom technology. Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper, presentation materials and office materials/supplies. This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile. This position may require prolonged or irregular hours. Maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state's department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.
