Occupational Therapist
Position Overview
The Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy services to students whose educational performance is impacted by physical, sensory, motor, self-care, or functional needs. The Occupational Therapist will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, parents, special education staff, and other related-service providers to support student access, participation, and progress within the educational environment.

The Occupational Therapist will:
Evaluate students referred for occupational therapy services using appropriate assessments, observations, records, and other relevant information.
Assist in determining whether occupational therapy services are necessary for a student to access and benefit from their educational program.
Participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, and Student Assistance Team meetings, as appropriate.
Develop measurable occupational therapy goals and objectives that address students' educational and functional needs.
Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy services in accordance with student IEPs and applicable requirements.
Address student needs related to:
Fine motor development.
Visual-motor and visual-perceptual skills.
Sensory processing and regulation.
Self-care and activities of daily living within the school environment.
Handwriting and written-output skills.
Positioning, mobility, and classroom access.
Assistive technology and adaptive equipment.
Functional participation in classroom and school activities.
Collaborate with teachers and other school personnel to develop classroom strategies, accommodations, modifications, and interventions.
Provide consultation and training to teachers, aides, parents, and other staff regarding student needs and appropriate supports.
Monitor student progress and modify therapy interventions as appropriate.
Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation of evaluations, therapy sessions, progress reports, Medicaid documentation when applicable, and other required records.
Complete progress reports and provide information regarding student progress toward IEP goals.
Assist with recommendations for adaptive equipment, assistive technology, seating, positioning, and other supports necessary for student access and participation.
Coordinate services with physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, school psychologists, special education teachers, nurses, and other related-service providers.
Maintain confidentiality of student records and information in accordance with federal and state law and Boone County Schools policies.
Follow all applicable requirements related to IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, special education procedures, and related-service documentation.
Maintain professional competence through continuing education, training, and professional development.
Maintain required professional licensure and certifications throughout employment.
Travel between Boone County Schools locations as necessary to provide services to assigned students.
Maintain and properly use occupational therapy equipment, materials, and supplies.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding evaluations, services, progress, and recommendations.
Perform other duties related to occupational therapy and student support as assigned by the Superintendent, Director of Special Education, or designee.
Physical and Professional Requirements
Salary: Based on Boone County Schools Salary Schedule (Degree and Experience)
The Occupational Therapist must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including providing hands-on assistance to students when necessary and safely using therapy equipment and materials.
The Occupational Therapist is expected to maintain the highest standards of professional conduct, confidentiality, student safety, and ethical practice.
