The speech language pathologist will conduct screenings and evaluations, as well as provide direct services to prekindergarten students with mild/moderate disabilities in a community child care setting. Responsibilities Include: Conduct thorough assessments of speech and language skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery Utilize data to develop attainable, strengths-based SMART goals for improving functional communication skills Provide direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to improve students' functional communication skills as outlined in the students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) Record data and report progress at least as often as report cards are provided Attend and participate in IEP meetings Communicate test results and progress with families Collaborate with other related service providers to conduct co-treatment sessions when deemed appropriate Consult with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement communication strategies throughout the school day Participate in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure
Preferred Skills: Experience with low-, mid-, and high-tech augmentative/alternative communication strategies Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies
