Job DetailsWe're seeking a Systems Engineer to support Traffic Management Systems and associated infrastructure across multiple customer environments.
You'll serve as a technical resource responsible for ensuring customers can reliably operate their traffic management applications and technology. The position combines systems engineering, networking, software configuration, troubleshooting, customer support, documentation, and infrastructure administration.
You'll also work with Traffic Signals and other ITS devices, including cameras, traffic detectors, and Dynamic Message Signs.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical liaison for customers and respond to operational and system issues
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and communication problems
- Configure and support Traffic Management Systems, traffic signals, and ITS devices
- Manage and prioritize technical issues according to customer SLA requirements
- Support servers, databases, desktops, and cloud/on-premise infrastructure
- Document network architecture, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
- Manage system backups and recovery processes
- Support hardware and software upgrades
- Train customer operations teams on applications, platforms, and new features
- Work with Project Managers, Database Administrators, Software Engineers, and QA teams
- Assist with testing and implementing applications and products
- Identify opportunities to improve system reliability and performance
- Recommend technical upgrades and improvements
- Provide occasional off-hours/on-call support
The role works cross-functionally with Project Management, Database Administration, Software Engineering, and QA to maintain, upgrade, secure, test, and implement client systems.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience
- Direct experience supporting Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and/or Traffic Management Systems (TMS)
- Hands-on experience with ITS devices such as traffic signals, PTZ cameras, traffic detectors, Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), or similar roadway technology
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and communications issues within traffic/ITS environments
- Experience with server operating systems and network configuration/topologies
- Experience with remote-access technologies and VPNs
- Exposure to database administration
- Strong technical troubleshooting and customer-facing support skills
- Experience supporting 24x7x365 operational environments
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant experience
- Ability to travel up to 30%
