The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly manufacturing facility. This position performs routine cleaning and sanitation of production areas, offices, washrooms, break rooms, warehouses, and other assigned areas while following workplace health and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize floors, work areas, offices, washrooms, lunchrooms, and common areas.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors using appropriate cleaning equipment.
Empty garbage, recycling, and waste containers and dispose of materials properly.
Clean windows, doors, walls, fixtures, and other surfaces as required.
Clean and maintain washrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and dispensers.
Replenish soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other facility supplies.
Operate cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers when required.
Clean spills and debris promptly to help maintain a safe working environment.
Follow all workplace safety, PPE, and chemical-handling procedures.
Report damaged equipment, safety hazards, leaks, spills, or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
Maintain cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies need to be reordered.
Assist with seasonal or deep-cleaning projects as required.
Perform other general housekeeping duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
Previous janitorial, industrial cleaning, or manufacturing experience is an asset.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to follow safety procedures and written instructions.
Good attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent cleanliness standards.
Physically able to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and use cleaning equipment.
Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Basic communication skills in English.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
May be exposed to dust, noise, machinery, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
May involve lifting and moving cleaning supplies or equipment.
May require evening, overnight, weekend, or shift work depending on plant operations.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry approximately 25-50 lbs as required.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, kneel, reach, push, and pull while performing cleaning duties.
Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment.
