About the Job
A Janitor/Baler Operator runs machines that compact waste materials-such as cardboard, paper, plastic, or fabric-into dense, manageable bales for recycling or disposal. Key duties include gathering and loading materials, operating hydraulic presses, securing bales with wire, housekeeping/janitorial, and transporting finished bales via pallet jack. Other possible duties would be disposing of trash, janitorial, housekeeping, and recycling duties. They must follow strict safety protocols.
What You'll Do | Key Accountabilities
· Safely load, operate, and monitor balers to ensure efficient compaction of waste materials. · Break down, sort, and transport recyclable materials (cardboard, paper, plastic, fabric) to the baler. · Securely bind finished bales with wire or twine, label them, remove them from the machine and transport them to the holding location within the building. · Perform routine cleaning on the baler and work area to prevent downtime or injury. · Dispose of trash as needed · Janitorial duties including sweeping, moping, and cleaning of required areas. · Transport, carry, and lift tools, materials, and equipment as required · Maintain a clean and organized work area
Skills & Experience
· Previous experience in a warehouse, production, or recycling environment is preferred. · Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and the ability to operate a pallet jack daily. · Ability to lift up to 60 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in varied temperatures.
