Japanese Bilingual Accountant / Japanese Accounting Firm

A Japanese accounting firm in Schaumburg, Illinois, is seeking an Accounting Staff / Accountant to join its team.

Responsibilities
• Review and organize clients’ accounting records using accounting software.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures and preparation of financial statements.
• Perform account reconciliations and support clients with day-to-day accounting activities.
• Process payroll-related tasks, including payroll tax process for monthly/semi-monthly/bi-weekly.
• Prepare gross-up calculations and related payroll adjustments for expatriate employees.
• Prepare corporate income tax returns and other federal and state tax filings.
• Prepare individual tax returns mainly for expatriate employees.
• Assist with various compliance filings, including Form 1042, sales tax returns, and other required reports.
• Communicate with clients in both Japanese and English to collect information and provide accounting support.
• Learn and apply U.S. accounting and tax rules while working on a variety of client engagements.


Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent academic background in accounting.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (debits/credits, financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations).
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Japanese and English communication is required.
• Experience with accounting software (such as QuickBooks Online) is a plus.
