Job Title: Senior Backend Software Engineer – Digital Banking
Location: Phoenix, AZ – Day 1 Onsite / Hybrid
Onsite Requirement: Minimum 3 Days Per Week
Experience: 8+ Years
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, distributed systems, Kafka, and cloud technologies. The role will support Digital Banking platforms with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, and high-performance backend services.

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based microservices and REST APIs.
* Build distributed, event-driven applications using Kafka/Kafka Streams.
* Develop secure, reliable, and high-performance backend services.
* Participate in architecture, design, code reviews, and technical discussions.
* Develop automated tests and support CI/CD practices.
* Work with product, architecture, operations, and business teams to deliver banking solutions.
* Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
* Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership.
* Contribute to platform modernization and Digital Banking initiatives.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS
* 8+ years of software development experience.
* Strong Java and Spring/Spring Boot experience.
* Hands-on experience with microservices and REST APIs.
* Strong knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture.
* Experience with Kafka/Kafka Streams.
* Experience with Spring Batch, JUnit, JDBC, Maven/Gradle, and Jenkins.
* Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or Cassandra.
* Experience with Docker and CI/CD.
* Strong understanding of scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and high availability.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
GOOD TO HAVE
* Digital Banking, Banking, FinTech, Payments, or Financial Services experience.
* AWS experience (EC2, RDS, S3, SQS).
* GenAI/LLM, RAG, embeddings, vector search, or MCP experience.
* Experience with Python, Hadoop, or Spark.
* Experience working in regulated enterprise environments.
