BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Java Developer.
Job Title: Java Developer
Location: Columbus, OH
Duration: 5+ Months
Job Description:
Candidates should have strengths in one or more of the following:
- Full Stack Development with strong Java backend experience
- Backend Java development with strong data engineering/data processing skills
- Advanced UI/front-end development expertise
- Strong AI engineering experience, specifically with Agentic AI, Claude, GitHub Copilot, and MCP. Candidates must have deep engineering experience working with AI technologies—this is not a role for someone with AI knowledge but limited software engineering experience.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Unit Testing
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills are essential
- Years of experience are less important than demonstrated technical capability and problem-solving skills
Project Details
The team is modernizing an outdated approvals platform by:
- Decommissioning approximately 10 stored procedures
- Moving business logic into middleware
- Deploying the solution as microservices within a modern architecture
Contract Details
- Initial 4-month contract (currently through end of year)
- 100% expected to extend
- No current intent to convert to full-time
