Job Summary (List Format) – Associate Agile Developer in Test (Java Intern)
Location: Hybrid (Phoenix, AZ – Local Candidates Only)
Duration: 6-month internship (20–40 hours/week)
Pay: $18/hr (W2)
Overview
- Internship for current college students or recent graduates in Computer Science or related field.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate classes.
- Hybrid work: first 2-3 days onsite, then remote with monthly office visits.
Key Responsibilities
- Support software release verification (smoke/regression testing, release readiness, documentation).
- Create, review, and maintain test cases aligned with user stories and risk areas.
- Develop and expand automated tests using Java, JUnit, Selenium, and Cucumber (BDD).
- Collaborate early with developers to clarify requirements, identify test scenarios, and promote quality.
- Improve and maintain test assets (page objects, step definitions, utilities).
- Analyze test failures and contribute to defect triage and documentation.
- Assist with continuous improvement of test strategy and coverage.
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related.
- Working knowledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Understanding of software testing concepts, including unit testing (JUnit) and defect lifecycle.
- Foundational database testing skills and familiarity with SQL.
- Exposure to build tools (e.g., Maven).
- Basic scripting knowledge (Bash/Shell, PowerShell, or Python).
- Willingness to learn and collaborate in an Agile environment.
Preferred/Desirable Skills
- Familiarity with Spring Boot.
- Experience with Oracle or MongoDB.
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub, GitHub Actions).
- Basic knowledge of Docker or Kubernetes.
- Experience with automation frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber).
- Understanding of performance/load testing (e.g., JMeter).
- Awareness of application security (e.g., OWASP Top 10, security tools).
- Interest in AI/Machine Learning for testing or CI/CD.
- Knowledge of MyBatis, Tomcat, or IBM FileNet workflows.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Must be local to Phoenix, AZ and able to attend onsite as needed.
- Must have a personal laptop; company workstation will be provided for remote access.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship.
- In-person interview and start within 2 weeks of offer required.
