Description:

CTG is seeking a Java Software Engineer II to support enterprise application development for our client. This role is ideal for an experienced Java developer who enjoys building scalable microservices, solving complex technical problems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. 

 

Location: Buffalo, NY
Duration: 6-month contract with the possibility of extension

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Oracle, and Microservices architecture.
  • Develop new features, enhance existing applications, and support production systems.
  • Perform application design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements to develop scalable, maintainable solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, QA, infrastructure, and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and recommend long-term improvements.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation.
  • Participate in code reviews, development estimates, and project planning activities.
  • Ensure applications meet security, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior developers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Work independently while collaborating with the Technology Team Lead and project teams.
  • Serve as a technical contributor on small to medium-sized development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Participate in technical planning, solution design, and project estimation.
  • Support production applications and assist with issue resolution as needed.
  • Contribute to process improvements and technology recommendations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Associate's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of systems analysis and application development experience; or a combined minimum of seven (7) years of higher education and/or professional experience, including at least five (5) years of systems analysis/application development experience.
  • Strong experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
  • Experience working with Oracle databases.
  • Experience designing and developing Microservices.
  • Experience with application design, development, testing, debugging, and production support.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Experience within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Understanding of enterprise application architecture and system integrations.
  • Experience working across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Familiarity with modern development frameworks and best practices.

 

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
