    Description

    PURPOSE STATEMENT

    This position will direct the Jazz Band at Garrison Middle School.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Directs all aspects, areas, and components of the jazz band before school three times a week.
    • Coordinates with the Pioneer Middle School Jazz Band Director.
    • Organizes, prepares, and conducts jazz band rehearsals.
    • Helps performers build their skills, knowledge and ability.
    • Supervise students.
    • Work with the District Music Coordinator.
    • Prepares 6 concerts a year.
    • Accompanies students to Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival field trip
    • Perform other reasonable duties as needed for the efficient set up and operation of the Garrison Middle School Jazz Band.

    District Music Coordinator and Building Principal.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

    • BA in Music.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Demonstrated ability to effectively carry out supervision duties for a band.

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students and administrators.

    • Evidence of short and long-term organization and management skills.

    • Evidence of being a positive role model.

    • Professional integrity, vigor, flexibility, enthusiasm.

    Licenses/Special Requirements.

    • Completed Employment Application/ Background Check.
