JB056 - Weekend Housekeeper/Family Cook - Upper East Side

Overview:

A lovely family on the Upper East Side is seeking a live-in housekeeper and family cook to support their household on weekends. The family has two daughters, two and a half years old and four months old, and already employs two nannies. This is primarily a housekeeping and cooking role, as the family values and protects their own time with their children on weekends. They are also open to the right candidate living in throughout the week and working only weekends.

 

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in housekeeping and cooking and is comfortable being around children. This is not a childcare position, and the family intends to remain the primary caregivers during their time at home. There will be occasions when the candidate is asked to step in, such as feeding a child or helping with bedtime, particularly if the husband is traveling or the parents have a commitment. The right candidate is someone who can move comfortably between housekeeping and cooking duties and these occasional moments of support.

 

The schedule will be Friday night through Sunday night, live in. Candidates open to a Friday morning start or extending through Monday morning are welcome to note their availability. 

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and organization throughout the home
• Prepare family meals and support cooking needs for the household, including the children
• Be comfortable and available around the children as needed, without taking on primary childcare duties
• Support the family’s weekend routine and household needs

Qualifications:

• Strong housekeeping and organizational background
• Cooking experience, ideally including meals for young children
• Comfortable and confident around children, though not seeking a childcare focused role
• Reliable and flexible with weekend live in scheduling
• Driver's License and a clean driving record, plus but not required.

Requirements:

• Private household experience
• Valid US work authorization
• Strong verifiable references

Salary and Benefits:

• $40 to $45/hr
