Occupational Therapist (OT)

Location: John Glenn School Corporation and LaVille Community Schools

Position Type: Part-Time / Related Services

Reports To: Director of Special Education

Position Goal

To provide high-quality occupational therapy services to students (Pre-K through 12+) that support their ability to participate in and benefit from their educational program. The OT will serve as a vital member of the Case Conference Committee, identifying student needs and implementing evidence-based interventions.

This position serves students across the John Glenn School Corporation and LaVille Community Schools. We pride ourselves on a supportive professional environment; candidates new to the school-based setting will be paired with an experienced mentor to assist with the transition into Indiana Article 7 compliance, IIEP web-based programs, and school-based best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive initial and re-evaluations of students fine motor, visual-motor, and sensory processing skills.
  • IEP Development: Collaborate with the Case Conference Committee (CCC) to develop measurable, educationally relevant goals and determine appropriate service minutes.
  • Service Delivery: Provide direct and consultative OT services in the least restrictive environment (LRE), including both "pull-out" and "push-in" (classroom-based) support.
  • Collaboration: Consult with teachers, parents, and other related service providers (PT, SLP) to provide environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, and sensory strategies.
  • Compliance: Maintain accurate digital logs of services provided, complete progress reports quarterly, and perform Medicaid billing documentation in accordance with state guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensure: Must hold or be eligible for a valid Indiana Occupational Therapist License issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA).
  • Certification: Current certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Indiana Article 7 and IDEA regulations regarding timelines, evaluations, and IEP implementation.
  • Transportation: Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel between school buildings within both corporations.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with the Indiana IEP (IIEP) system.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting data at Case Conferences.
