Summary: We’re looking for another outstanding “people person” with a background in farming, landscaping and carpentry to be part of our dynamic vocational services program. At Prospect Meadow Farm, everyone is hands-on—from planting, cultivating, and harvesting crops; to feeding, watering, and grooming the animals; to performing landscaping work at the farm and throughout the community.
Responsibilities:
Work alongside farmhands to coach and support them in various aspects of their daily work.
Collaborate with other staff on the team to provide the best therapeutic work environment.
Develop progress notes describing each individual’s contact and how that contact relates to treatment goals.
Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, shears, and other tools as needed.
Use power lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and garden clippers and other necessary tools.
Tilling soil and applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops; cleaning, packing, and loading harvested products.
Feed and water animals, clean cages and tanks and perform any other necessary clean up.
Perform grooming such as washing fur, trimming nails and first aid such as attending to minor cuts.
Perform a variety of tasks necessary to achieve a pleasant and functional outdoor environment. Mow lawns, rake leaves, trim hedges and trees; plant flowers and otherwise ensure that the grounds of the farm are attractive, orderly, and healthy.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Experience in the human service, or related field preferred.
Experience with the use of gardening tools and landscaping machinery.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
Ability to physically perform all tasks.
