Description

The Job Coach is an instrumental employee for Woodhaven Learning Center. The Job Coach will work within our Woodhaven Community Employment Services Program which includes our EnCircle Technologies vocational training program and our employment services. The responsibilities will include helping clients with being successful on the job; helping clients with employment on-the-job training and retention; communicating with employers to build a relationship to provide support; learn the specific tasks required for the position and the business's expectations of the employee; the role of the job coach is observation and then determining the appropriate instructional techniques to utilize when needed; and provide positive feedback. In addition to assisting the employee with specific job skills, it is often necessary to assist with interpersonal/social skills, as well as arriving to work on time and appropriate dress attire.

EXAMPLE OF JOB DUTIES/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

1. Work closely with individuals supported, family members, and other related staff in implementation of Individual Vocational Plans.

2. Train clients in job skills, including job-specific skills as required by their employer and social skills appropriate for their workplace.

3. Responsible for ensuring their Individual is aware of job duties and schedule.

4. Communicate with individuals' supervisors to get updates on job performance to job retention.

5. Collect data and complete documentation of all training and client interactions in a timely manner.

6. Provide on the job training/ job coaching on employment site using evidence-based practices.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent is required and relevant training and/or experience in the field is preferred.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/DUTIES: The Job Coach will be required to successfully complete an initial orientation. This will include CPR, First Aid, Abuse & Neglect, Certified Medication Administration, Positive Behavior Interventions, Universal Precautions in-service, lifting in-service, and other lectures on basic information regarding State and Federal law relevant to the organization's policies, procedures, rules and regulations. You will be required to update these in-services annually or as notified. Employees are expected to be reliable when reporting to work for scheduled shifts. All Job Coaches who have committed felonies that are listed on the disqualification registry with the Department of Mental Health will be removed from payroll effective immediately unless a request for exception has been approved with the Department of Mental Health.

A valid Missouri Chauffeur's licenseMUSTbe obtained within the first two (2) weeks of employment for this position. Must maintain an acceptable driving status according to Procedure No. 1-8-3, Woodhaven Vehicle Use. Any exception to this requirement must be authorized by the Human Resource Manager. Applicant must have the ability to cooperate and work well with the individuals receiving services, their families and staff.

Essential Qualifications/Functions of the Position also include:
  • Attendance/Ability to work scheduled time which may include evenings and weekends

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Chauffeur's license

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
