NOTICE OF VACANCY

Job Coach TANTASQUA REGIONAL SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 2026-2027 School Year

Reports to: Special Educators/Special Education Curriculum Supervisor with whom he or she works for daily supervision and to the building principal and assistant principal, or their designee, for assignments and evaluations

Responsibilities: To provide assistance with job development and direct support to individual students in various employment settings, including competitive, supported, and integrated work sites and work services.

Essential Functions:

  • visits potential job sites to determine their appropriateness for students'
  • participates in the development of vocational goals and objectives for student IEPs
  • serves as a source of information for students with respect to the school, home, and community
  • assists and instructs students at job sites, either in school or a community setting
  • provides transportation to and from residential programs or daily work sites, as assigned
  • collects and disseminates to students and families information concerning school offerings, opportunities for further education, careers, and career training opportunities
  • provides positive role modeling to students through displaying a working knowledge of policies and procedures
  • completes required documentation and data collection regarding students'' progress, activities, and growth
  • assists in establishing and coordinating student-teacher-counselor-parent conferences
  • guides students regarding academic and/or vocational matters
  • provides identification and referral service for students having emotional, health, and/or learning problems that are beyond the resources of the local school
  • assists classroom teachers and other pertinent staff in the evaluation of students'' performance
  • performs other duties, as assigned

Ability to:

  • make accurate assessments of the developmental status and educational needs of students and make recommendations for appropriate vocational placements
  • work independently
  • establish general schedules and priorities
  • understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the course of work
  • solve practical problems involving a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • carry out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently

Knowledge of:

  • child development and challenges faced by students with learning or significant disabilities
  • available assistive technologies, with appropriate training
  • effective use of computer and relevant software applications
  • interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy

Qualifications:

  • valid driver's license
  • evidence of ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily
  • The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education:

  • Associates degree preferred
  • experience working with students with developmental disabilities in a vocational or academic setting preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception.

Compensation: $20.80-$34.53 per hour (placement on the salary schedule is based on years of service).
