Salary: $3423.33 per month ($41,079.96 per year)
About Us:
The Sooner Job ChalleNGe (SJC) program is the fifth phase of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program. It is a highly complex operation, which has the responsibility of recruiting, housing, training, mentoring, and providing for the safety, security, and medical well-being of up to 60 sixteen- to twenty-one-year-old "At-Risk" youth. The Program combines classroom work, technical school training, community service, physical training, job skills and team-building activities to enhance the life-skills and employability potential of these youth. Additional major elements of the program are: career skills, healthy living, drug abuse awareness, leadership/followership, discipline, physical fitness, practical job skills training and character development. This program is a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week operation. For additional information about the program go to www.soonerjobchallenge.org.
Benefits: This is a full-time state position that provides a percentage of matching contributions to employees' retirement plans, 11 holidays, and a minimum of 15 days of annual and sick leave per year. The state also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including a benefit allowance to offset the cost of insurance premiums for employees and their eligible dependents.
Basic Purpose: Case management, career counseling and tracking of student associates and graduates of the Sooner Job Challenge Program.
Essential Functions:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Military background preferred, but not required. Requires good administrative, computer, communication and customer service skills with the ability to compile and produce required reports.
Education and Experience: High School diploma or GED. Strong background working with at risk youth, or a combination of education and experience. Prefer at least 2 years working with youth.
