The Winder/Assembler winds wire for armatures used in aerospace equipment according to blueprint and work order instructions. Key responsibilities include reviewing blueprints and work orders, winding wire by hand or machine, fabricating armatures, cutting insulators and wire, banding armatures with string or wire banding, soldering bands, ensuring revision of print is the same as called out, testing armatures with ohmmeter and surge tester, setting up parameters and observing readout, rewinding armatures for overhaul, and contacting the Production Manager for recurring issues.
Job requirements include a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); six to nine months previous industry-related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. The candidate should be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. They should also be able to communicate verbally, read and comprehend simple instructions, blueprints, and write simple correspondence. They should have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions and procedures, deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations, perform repetitive tasks, operate department equipment, and have strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
