We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong knowledge of milling operations. The machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting CNC mills. This role requires the ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T, perform setups independently, and ensure parts meet strict quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up & Operation:
- Perform complete setup of CNC milling machines, including tooling, work holding, and program offsets.
- Blueprint Reading & GD&T:
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T symbols and tolerances.
- Verify part conformity to specifications throughout production.
- Quality & Inspection:
- Conduct in-process inspection using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision instruments.
- Machining Knowledge:
- Select proper tooling, speeds, and feeds based on material and operation.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, tool wear, and dimensional deviations.
- Programming Adjustments:
- Make minor edits to CNC programs (G/M code adjustments) as needed.
- Work with programmer/supervisor/engineer to optimize machining processes.
- Continuous Improvement & Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Perform basic machine maintenance and preventive checks.
- Suggest process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or trade certificate in machining/manufacturing (preferred).
- 3+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience with mills
- Proven ability to perform independent setups and first-article runs.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Skilled with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gauges).
- Basic CNC program editing and offset adjustments.
- Knowledge of tooling selection, cutting speeds/feeds, and machining practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Team oriented but able to work independently with minimal supervision.
