We're partnering with an Illinois middle school to fill a full-time School Counselor opening for a temporary assignment during the fall semester. This is an exciting opportunity for a bilingual professional who enjoys empowering students, strengthening school-family partnerships, and creating a positive school experience for adolescents.
With a schedule of 37.5 hours per week and a paid lunch, you'll join a collaborative team focused on removing barriers to learning and promoting student success. Your ability to communicate in both English and Spanish will help foster meaningful relationships with students and families while ensuring they have access to the guidance, resources, and support they need.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Conduct student needs assessments and assist with intervention planning.
- Maintain accurate counseling records and complete required documentation.
- Respond to student concerns and provide crisis intervention when appropriate.
- Help foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Partner with teachers, administrators, and families to develop effective student support strategies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate with school teams to promote student success.
- Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' academic, social, and emotional development.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a school setting is beneficial but not required.
- Hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Counselor endorsement.
- Fluent in both Spanish and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families.
- Passionate about supporting middle school students and contributing to a positive, student-centered school culture.
