About the role
Job Summary: Set up and operate machine tools, including HBM, VBM, lathes, milling machines, ID/OD grinders, planers, and bore, without assistance, following department policy and procedures manual, to manufacture and recondition component parts to customer, OEM and industry standards. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, and sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping and fitting. Measures components, parts, and raw materials with precision measuring instruments, gauges, and tools. Works under limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
• Performs layouts, sets up, and operates machines. • Read and interpret procedures, work orders, and technical drawings to meet specifications. • Apply knowledge of metals and alloys, including stainless and carbon steels. • Improves set ups and methods for higher quality and improved cost. • Operate overhead crane and forklifts safely as directed by Supervisor. • Perform other duties as necessary.
Requirements:
• Completion of a machinist apprentice program or equivalent training. • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in machining. • Ability to hold close tolerances and conduct component inspection. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. • Basic math skills.
