Journeyman Carpenter

CMA Development is hiring a Journeyman Carpenter to support daily field work while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and professionalism on the jobsite. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in doing quality work, works well with others, and can contribute to a productive and organized field environment. The right candidate is dependable, skilled, and ready to help keep projects moving forward with consistency and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rough and finish carpentry with precision and consistency
- Assist with day-to-day field work on active residential construction sites
- Complete assigned carpentry tasks efficiently and to a high standard
- Support layout, framing, blocking, installation, and finish work as needed
- Work alongside lead carpenters, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors to keep projects progressing
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized jobsite environment
- Follow construction drawings, instructions, and project specifications
- Communicate material needs, field conditions, and progress updates to site leadership
- Assist with preparing for inspections and completing jobsite punch work
- Represent the company professionally on-site with clients, trade partners, and team members
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of carpentry experience in residential construction
- High-end residential remodel or custom home experience preferred
- Working knowledge of rough carpentry, layout, envelope work, and finish carpentry
- Ability to read plans and follow direction accurately
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Dependable, hardworking, and able to work well as part of a team
- Strong communication and professionalism on the jobsite
- Must be able to provide standard personal carpentry hand tools used in daily work
- Valid California driver's license and reliable personal transportation preferred
Pay and Benefits
- Full-time, W-2 Employee
- Pay: $40 to $55 per hour, based on experience for Carpenters
- $500 annual reimbursement for tools, continuing education, or professional development
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, typical construction-site hours 7-330; occasional early starts or overtime based on project needs
- Travel: Local travel between Bay Area job sites required
