Pierce County Refuse Lemay is seeking a reliable, safety-focused Diesel Mechanic in Frederickson, WA, to support our heavy-duty truck and trailer maintenance teams. This position offers a competitive hourly rate, CDL premium, and swing shift differential.

Compensation and Benefits


  • Hourly Rate: $37.00 - $41.00/hour (DOE)
  • CDL Premium: Additional $1.00/hour for Class A or B CDL holders
  • Shift Differential: +$1.50/hour for swing shift

Schedule and Overtime


  • Monday - Friday, 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM
  • Average 8-10 hours of overtime per week paid at 1.5x
  • Swing shift differential applies



Key Responsibilities


  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
  • Use diagnostic tools and software such as Cummins Insite, Davie-4, and Allison DOC
  • Perform DOT and OSHA safety inspections
  • Complete MIG welding and basic fabrication as needed
  • Test drive vehicles to verify repairs
  • Accurately document work in maintenance systems
  • Review and address Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures



Required Qualifications


  • Minimum 3 years of heavy-duty diesel mechanic experience
  • Experience with diagnostics and repair of fleet equipment
  • Valid Driver's License; CDL preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA standards
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • Must have own basic tools
