Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Job Location:
Chantilly, VA- 20151
Duration: 3+ months of Contract with possible extension
Shift: Mon-Fri (6:00 pm – 2:30 pm) EST
 
Note: should be flexible for on-call for 24/7 emergency coverage in the building
 
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to support electrical systems in a laboratory environment. This role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable power for critical equipment.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment
  • Set up new circuits and support system upgrades
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Ensure all work meets NEC and Virginia electrical code standards
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Respond quickly to electrical issues and emergencies
  • Document work performed, materials used, and test results
  • Work closely with facilities, engineering, and lab teams
  • Be available for after-hours emergency calls when needed
 
Required Qualifications:
  • Active Journeyman Electrician License (Virginia)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Completion of a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program
  • At least 4+ years of commercial or industrial electrical experience
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes (NEC and Virginia)
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience working in critical facilities with exposure to systems such as boilers, chillers, HVAC, refrigeration, and electrical infrastructure
  • Experience with conduit, wiring, panels, and distribution systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and be on-call
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in critical environments (lab, hospital, or data center)
  • Familiarity with UPS systems, generators, and emergency power
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electrical field
  • Safety certifications (OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E)
