Job Title: Journeyman Electrician / Field Foreman 

Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician with proven foreman-level leadership experience to support field operations, lead crews, and mentor apprentices. This role combines hands-on electrical work, jobsite leadership, training responsibilities, and project support functions such as troubleshooting, material planning, and job quoting. 

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in commercial and/or industrial electrical work, comfortable operating aerial and excavation-related equipment, and capable of developing less experienced team members while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. 

Key Responsibilities 

Field Operations & Installation 

  • Perform and oversee electrical installations, maintenance, and repairs in commercial and/or industrial environments 
  • Lead small crews on job sites, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to code 
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and project specifications 
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical systems and diagnose issues in the field 
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, local codes, and company standards 

Leadership & Training 

  • Train, mentor, and develop apprentices and junior electricians 
  • Provide hands-on instruction and guidance in proper installation techniques and safety practices 
  • Evaluate apprentice progress and provide feedback to management 
  • Promote a strong safety culture and enforce jobsite safety protocols 

Equipment Operation 

Safely operate aerial equipment including: 

  • Bucket trucks 
  • Boom lifts 
  • Scissor lifts 

Operate and assist with: 

  • Augering equipment for pole or base installation 
  • Concrete placement for light pole bases and similar structures 

Perform daily equipment inspections and ensure proper usage 

Project Support & Planning 

  • Develop and verify bills of material (BOM) for projects 
  • Assist in estimating and quoting electrical work, including service calls and small projects 
  • Provide accurate field feedback for job costing and project planning 
  • Coordinate material needs and communicate with office/project management teams 

Service & Troubleshooting 

  • Respond to service calls and perform diagnostic troubleshooting 
  • Identify root causes of electrical issues and implement effective solutions 
  • Document findings and support accurate service billing and reporting 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license (state or local as applicable) 
  • 5+ years of electrical experience, with foreman or crew lead experience preferred 
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience training or mentoring apprentices 
  • Proficiency in reading electrical drawings and specifications 
  • Experience operating aerial lifts (bucket truck, boom lift, scissor lift) 
  • Experience with underground work, augering, and basic concrete installation 
  • Valid Class E driver’s license and clean driving record 
  • Need to pass a drug test and background check 

Preferred 

  • Experience in commercial service work and small project estimating 
  • CDL (or willingness to obtain) 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification 
  • Experience with lighting, pole installations, and site work 
  • Familiarity with Building and Lighting controls
