Job Title: Journeyman Electrician

GovFirst is seeking a qualified and experienced Journeyman Electrician to support tunnel, bridge, and roadway infrastructure projects throughout Southeast Virginia. This position is responsible for the preventive maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial electrical systems that support transportation operations and critical infrastructure.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on commercial and industrial electrical systems, including load centers and distribution systems.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, isolate, and repair electrical components up to and including 480 VAC three-phase systems.
Maintain electrical wiring systems in compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable industry standards.
Inspect electrical systems and components to evaluate condition, identify deficiencies, and recommend corrective or preventive maintenance actions.
Assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatus, wiring, and control systems supporting tunnels, bridges, and roadway infrastructure.
Plan layouts and wiring configurations for new and existing electrical installations.
Fabricate electrical components and inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, safety codes, and regulations.
Inspect electrical work performed by contractors and verify conformance with project requirements.
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical specifications.
Utilize electrical testing instruments to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions.
Estimate labor, materials, time, and costs associated with maintenance and electrical projects.
Maintain accurate records related to inspections, repairs, maintenance activities, and work orders.
Safely operate electrical testing equipment, hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and maintenance equipment.
Maintain, clean, and service tools and equipment used in daily operations.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, project management, contractors, and team members regarding work status and project needs.
Respond safely and appropriately to electrical emergencies.
Operate and perform work from bucket trucks as required.
Support traffic monitoring and transportation control systems when applicable.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or project management.
Strong working knowledge of electrical theory, methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in the electrical trade.
Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Scheduling flexibility to support a 24/7/365 operating environment.
Required Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of field experience performing preventive maintenance and repair of commercial or industrial electrical systems.
Experience utilizing electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical specifications.
Experience working with electrical load centers, distribution systems, and safety compliance.
Required Education & Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
Required Work Authorization:
Licensed Journeyman Electrician (required)
Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
DMV records check required

Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check required.
