Schedule: Monday - Friday from 07:00am-04:30pm. *Work days may vary regarding end time but total hours during the week will be within 40 hours.
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Journeyman Electrician / Mechanic - Level 2 to support commercial and industrial electrical projects in the Raleigh area.
This position requires strong technical electrical knowledge, hands-on field experience, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and code compliance. The Journeyman Electrician / Mechanic will perform electrical installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and system maintenance while working independently and alongside project leads, foremen, and other electrical team members.
The ideal candidate has at least 4 years of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair experience, preferably within commercial and industrial environments.
Install electrical panels, transformers, disconnects, switchboards, and related electrical equipment
Perform electrical installations for commercial and industrial projects
Pull and route electrical wire and cable through conduit, raceways, and other pathways
Terminate conductors at panels, equipment, fixtures, devices, and electrical systems
Select and properly size conductors based on project specifications
Bend, cut, thread, and install conduit
Accurately size conduit, electrical boxes, and wiring for field installations
Install lighting fixtures, receptacles, switches, controls, and other electrical devices
Troubleshoot commercial and industrial electrical systems
Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate corrective actions
Repair faulty wiring, electrical equipment, panels, fixtures, and devices
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance as needed
Help ensure electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements
Work with project leads and foremen to assist with electrical system planning and layout
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, drawings, and construction documents
Review architectural, mechanical, plumbing, structural, and electrical plans as they relate to electrical installations
Coordinate field installations according to project plans and specifications
Identify potential installation issues and communicate them to project leadership
Perform electrical work in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Follow applicable local electrical codes and project requirements
Follow company and job site safety procedures
Maintain a safe and organized work area
Use required Personal Protective Equipment at all times
Complete installations according to established quality and safety standards
Minimum of 4 years of electrical installation, maintenance, and repair experience
Commercial and/or industrial electrical experience required
Journeyman-level electrical knowledge and hands-on field experience
Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, drawings, and construction plans
Ability to understand electrical, architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and structural plans
Ability to correctly identify wire colors, conductor sizes, and electrical applications
Experience with wire pulling, terminating, and conductor sizing
Strong conduit bending, cutting, threading, and installation skills
Experience installing panels, transformers, disconnects, switchboards, fixtures, and electrical devices
Ability to properly size conduit, boxes, and conductors
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must possess the minimum required electrical hand tools and equipment for the position
Reliable transportation to and from job sites
Dependable attendance and ability to report to assigned job sites on time
Positive attitude and strong work ethic
Willingness to adapt to changing project requirements and field conditions
Candidates must have and be prepared to use the following required PPE:
Composite toe work boots
Level 2 chin strap hard hat
Any additional PPE required by the job site or assigned project
Candidates must be able to:
Lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work from ladders or elevated surfaces
Stand and walk for extended periods
Perform physically demanding electrical installation work throughout the shift
Work safely around electrical equipment and active commercial and industrial construction environments
Work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and rain
Safety is a critical responsibility of this position. Employees are expected to consistently follow established safety procedures; use required PPE and perform electrical work in accordance with applicable electrical codes and job site requirements.
Candidates must demonstrate good judgment when working around energized systems, electrical equipment, elevated work areas, and active construction environments.
