Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a Journeyman Electrician for a long-term role with an industrial renewable energy sector company in NE Portland, OR. The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying electrical systems supporting research and development facilities, laboratories, test equipment, manufacturing operations, and industrial infrastructure. This is a dynamic, hands-on position involving everything from new equipment installations and electrical distribution upgrades to troubleshooting complex electrical systems and supporting evolving facility needs. The ideal candidate has a strong industrial electrical background, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced technical environment.
The role will require occasional travel to support needs at the Vancouver, WA location as well.
Pay: $52-$68/hr
Electrician Responsibilities:
Install, maintain, and modify commercial and industrial electrical distribution systems, including conduit, raceways, conductors, feeders, branch circuits, disconnects, transformers, panels, lighting, grounding, and bonding.
Install electrical connections for manufacturing equipment, R&D systems, industrial machinery, compute infrastructure, pumps, motors, HVAC equipment, and other facility loads.
Work with 480V three-phase and 208/120V electrical distribution systems.
Troubleshoot electrical circuits, breakers, motors, motor controls, relays, contactors, and industrial equipment to identify faults and restore safe operation.
Perform preventive maintenance, electrical inspections, testing, and planned shutdowns to maintain system reliability and identify potential safety concerns.
Support equipment installations, startups, commissioning, energization, and electrical system modifications.
Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation to complete installations and repairs.
Collaborate with engineering, facilities, maintenance personnel, and contractors to support electrical infrastructure projects.
Maintain accurate documentation of electrical installations, repairs, modifications, and system changes.
Follow all applicable electrical codes, OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E safety practices, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Electrician Qualifications:
Current Oregon General Journeyman Electrician (J) license or PJ is required.
Proven experience installing, maintaining, modifying, and troubleshooting commercial or industrial electrical systems.
Experience working with 480V three-phase and 208/120V electrical distribution systems.
Strong knowledge of conduit installation, raceways, feeders, branch circuits, panels, transformers, disconnects, grounding, bonding, and motor circuits.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits, motors, breakers, contactors, relays, and basic industrial controls.
Proficiency reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical safety standards, and lockout/tagout procedures.
Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently or collaboratively with technical teams.
Experience in advanced manufacturing, R&D, aerospace, energy, data centers, or other industrial environments preferred.
Experience with VFDs, motor controls, PLC-connected equipment, instrumentation wiring, and industrial control circuits preferred.
Familiarity with generators, UPS systems, transfer switches, temporary power, and backup power systems is a plus.
Experience with equipment commissioning, infrared inspections, preventive electrical maintenance, or power-quality troubleshooting preferred.
NFPA 70E training preferred.
Washington 01 General Journey Level Electrician certification, or eligibility and willingness to obtain certification through reciprocity, is a plus.
Ability to regularly lift and move items up to 50 lbs and perform physical work including climbing ladders, standing for extended periods, and working in active operational environments.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to commute between sites.
