EnergyUnited is seeking an experienced Journeyman Lineman to join our Cornelius Operations team. In this role, you’ll help build, maintain, and restore a safe, reliable electric system for our member-owners. This position is hands-on, safety-focused, and critical to keeping the lights on, especially when our members need us most.

What You’ll Do

  • Construct, operate, and maintain electric distribution and transmission lines
  • Perform routine and emergency line work with minimal supervision
  • Respond to outages and assist with storm restoration, including after-hours and on-call work
  • Perform complex and hazardous line work safely and efficiently
  • Train and mentor apprentice linemen
  • Apply knowledge of voltage regulation, fault current, and line protection
  • Size single-phase transformers and calculate transformer loads
  • Operate equipment and maintain accurate records and reports
  • Occasionally serve as Crew Leader or assist with on-call crew supervision
  • Participate in and present safety meetings as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years of journeyman-level line experience
  • North Carolina Class A CDL with a good driving record
  • Possess or be able to obtain a complete set of personal lineman tools
  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and member service
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather and challenging conditions

Working Conditions

  • Normal hours: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (overtime and irregular hours required as needed)
  • Must be available during adverse weather events and emergencies
  • Physical demands include climbing, lifting (100+ lbs), operating heavy equipment, and working near traffic

Residency Requirement

This is a direct operational position. Employees must live or be willing to relocate within 25 miles of the assigned office.
