We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Machine Repair Technician to support maintenance operations within a fast-paced automotive manufacturing facility.
This is a hands-on skilled trades position responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, rebuilding, installing, and maintaining industrial production machinery and equipment. The Machine Repair Technician will work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and skilled trades teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure reliable manufacturing operations.
A valid Journeyman Machine Repair Card is required for this position.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical problems on industrial production machinery and equipment.
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
Repair, rebuild, install, and maintain production equipment and mechanical systems.
Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and material handling systems.
Diagnose equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
Repair and replace bearings, gearboxes, pumps, motors, shafts, couplings, cylinders, valves, conveyors, and other mechanical components.
Perform equipment alignment, adjustments, and precision mechanical repairs.
Disassemble machinery and equipment to identify worn or damaged components.
Reassemble, test, and verify equipment operation following repairs.
Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and mechanical modifications as required.
Read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Support equipment installations, modifications, upgrades, and production launches.
Respond to production breakdowns and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
Identify recurring equipment problems and participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
Complete work orders and accurately document repairs and maintenance activities.
Maintain a safe and organized work area.
Follow all plant safety requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Work collaboratively with electricians, controls technicians, engineers, production personnel, and other skilled trades.
Valid Journeyman Machine Repair Card REQUIRED.
Previous experience as a Journeyman Machine Repair Technician, Machine Repairman, Industrial Maintenance Technician, Millwright, or similar skilled trade.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
Experience working with industrial manufacturing machinery and production equipment.
Strong knowledge of:
Hydraulics
Pneumatics
Mechanical drive systems
Bearings and gearboxes
Pumps and motors
Conveyors and material handling equipment
Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Experience using precision measuring instruments and diagnostic tools.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and machine repair equipment.
Welding and fabrication experience.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled trades team.
Automotive or Tier 1 manufacturing experience.
High-volume manufacturing environment.
Automated production equipment.
Robotic manufacturing systems.
Hydraulic presses and related equipment.
Preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
Equipment installation and commissioning.
Root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
CMMS/work order systems.
Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work around production machinery for extended periods.
Ability to safely lift and move equipment, tools, and machine components as required.
Ability to work safely around moving machinery and industrial equipment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on Journeyman Machine Repair professional with strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience maintaining production equipment in a manufacturing environment.
This individual should be comfortable responding to equipment breakdowns, rebuilding and repairing machinery, troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and performing preventive maintenance to keep production equipment operating safely and efficiently.
Journeyman Machine Repair Card is required.
