Job Description
As a Journeyman Mechanic at our client, you play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our precision machinery and production tools. Your expertise in mechanical and electrical repairs, along with preventative maintenance, keeps our equipment running efficiently. Responsibilities:
- Equipment Installation and Repair: Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain precision machines and production tools. Troubleshoot malfunctions and devise effective solutions to minimize downtime and prevent future breakdowns.
- Technical Expertise: Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and manuals to execute safe and efficient repairs. Fabricate parts using various machinery and operate power tools, hand tools, torches, welders, and precision measuring instruments.
- Mechanical Expertise: Conduct operations such as fitting and aligning bearings, spindles, and shafts, and calibrate measuring devices and feeding mechanisms.
- Installation Leadership: Lead machine tool installation and relocation efforts, ensuring safe and precise setup. Perform erecting, leveling, fitting, and aligning tasks as required.
- Electrical Troubleshooting: Resolve basic electrical and PLC issues to maintain operational efficiency.
- Supplier Interaction: Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to acquire part information, address repair concerns, discuss improvement needs, and provide shipping instructions.
- Team Support: Assist other maintenance team members in meeting department requirements. Act as a valuable resource for production, engineering, and plant personnel.
- Skill Development: Continually enhance your knowledge and skills in all maintenance trade areas.
- Equipment Maintenance: Maintain a strong understanding of tools, testing equipment, measuring instruments, conveyance, and material handling equipment.
- Data Management: Use a PC to update databases and retrieve essential information.
- Vehicle and Equipment Operation: Operate company vehicles, conveyance, and material handling equipment when needed.
- Documentation and Safety: Complete necessary paperwork, machine documentation, and preventative maintenance records. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Contribute to the development and implementation of quality procedures, work instructions, and standards. Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF systems.
- Mentoring: Train and guide the work of apprentices, sharing your expertise.
Qualifications:
- 5+yrs of experience in an Industrial Mechanic or Maintenance position within a manufacturing environment
- Journeyman mechanic certification
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education preferred.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics
