JOB TITLE: JOURNEYMAN PLUMBER

CALENDAR: 2612 (12 MONTH)

SALARY: GRADE 119 (SUPPORT HOURLY)

Job Goal:

To ensure the safe, efficient, and code-compliant operation of plumbing systems throughout district facilities by performing skilled plumbing work that supports a healthy and functional learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial or institutional plumbing work
• Expert knowledge in the use of hand power tools and equipment
• Working knowledge of building and safety codes
• Working knowledge of plumbing codes, safety regulations, and blueprint reading
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Valid Arizona Driver''s license
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• Vision and hearing are adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner

Core Job Functions:

• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including water, gas, and drainage lines across district buildings
• Diagnose and resolve plumbing issues, ensuring compliance with local and state codes
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure system reliability and safety
• Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents to plan and execute plumbing projects
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks
• Collaborate with facilities staff and contractors to support district operations and improvements
• Collaborate with other trades and departments to support facility operations and improvements
• Coordinate with appropriate district personnel and the contractor to develop project specifications and follow up on contractor progress
• Process documentation and other paperwork associated with job requirements promptly
• Lead, with expertise in the specialized craftsman field, in the repair, alteration, maintenance, construction, and installation of site buildings and grounds
• Plan, direct, monitor, and train other department employees
• Maintain records of time, materials, and parts required to complete work orders
• Perform heavy labor and maintenance work
• Operate truck, hand-powered tools, and equipment assignments
• Oversee the work of other maintenance personnel as assigned by the supervisor
• Maintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employed
• Be flexible and perform other duties relating to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor
• Report safety/security hazards and needs for major repairs in an expeditious manner

Physical Requirements - Heavy Work:

• Ability to work extended periods of time in extreme temperatures (cold salad/sandwich prep, inventory for freezer & coolers)
• Positions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable to the job.
• Employee must be able to stand and walk constantly on various floor surfaces while performing various duties, including but not limited to push/pull force of up to 100 pounds for various machines.
• Employee must stand constantly and walk frequently, lifting items of various sizes, up to 50 pounds. Items over 50 pounds require a second staff member to lift safely.
• Employee may rarely be required to climb ladders, to perform various stocking, inventory, cleaning or maintenance tasks
• Employees may be subject to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, workplace restrictions, cold and/or hot temperatures, and loud noises
