Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter responsible for installing, modifying, and repairing fire sprinkler systems while ensuring all work complies with applicable codes and standards. This position requires expertise in fitting, fabricating, and installing sprinkler piping and related components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install overhead sprinkler piping, standpipe systems, sprinkler system risers, and specialty fire protection systems, including wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems.
  • Assemble and install system components, such as hangers, valves, fittings, backflow prevention, bells, drains, fire pumps, stored water supplies, and other fire sprinkler components.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine system layout and installation requirements.
  • Measure and cut piping materials, including steel, copper, and CPVC.
  • Collaborate with other construction trades to coordinate installation activities.
  • Test and inspect newly installed fire sprinkler systems to ensure proper operation and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with training and development of fire sprinkler apprentices.
  • Provide technical support to apprentices, technicians, designers, and shop employees.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or Project Foreman.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while following all safety procedures.

Pay

$40.00–$50.00/hour

Sign-On Bonus

Massachusetts-licensed fitters are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, paid in two installments:

  • First payment after successfully completing 90 days of employment
  • Second payment after completing 180 days of employment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Massachusetts Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter License in good standing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • 4 years of experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter or Fire Sprinkler Helper in commercial and industrial installation.
  • Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler system components, installation techniques, NFPA 13, and applicable local building codes.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, pipe threading machines, and other fire sprinkler installation equipment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work in environments involving noise, dust, heat, low-light conditions, heights, and other challenging conditions.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while using appropriate fall protection and safety equipment.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, drilling, fastening, and other tasks involving torque, vibration, and noise.
