Ford Journeyman Technician

Position Summary

The Journeyman Technician is responsible for performing advanced automotive repairs, diagnostics, maintenance, and warranty-related repairs on Ford vehicles. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to accurately diagnose and repair complex vehicle concerns while following Ford Motor Company procedures and dealership standards.

The Journeyman Technician works closely with Service Advisors, the Service Department leadership team, and other technicians to provide quality repairs and an exceptional customer experience.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform accurate diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of Ford vehicles.
• Complete repairs efficiently while following Ford factory procedures and dealership guidelines.
• Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns.
• Perform engine, transmission, suspension, brake, electrical, HVAC, and advanced vehicle system repairs.
• Utilize Ford diagnostic equipment, service information, and technical resources.
• Complete warranty repairs according to Ford warranty policies and documentation requirements.
• Properly document all diagnostic findings, repairs performed, and parts used on repair orders.
• Communicate repair recommendations and additional findings to Service Advisors and management.
• Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs are completed correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Assist and mentor less experienced technicians when needed.
• Stay current with Ford technical training, tools, and repair procedures.
• Follow all dealership safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Previous dealership or automotive repair experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair procedures.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex vehicle concerns.
• Ford experience and Ford training certifications preferred.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and technical repair resources.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs.
• Ability to work independently while also being a strong team member.
• Valid driver's license.
• Own basic hand tools required for automotive repair.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work in various positions for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move automotive components and equipment.
• Ability to work safely around vehicles, lifts, tools, and automotive fluids.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced dealership service environment.
