Join a collaborative precision shop in Elk Grove Village where your craftsmanship directly impacts quality and throughput. If you’re comfortable taking a blueprint from concept to finished tool, and you don’t hesitate to jump in when a die needs troubleshooting, this role is for you.

About the job

  • Set up and operate manual mills and surface grinders to produce, fit, and repair tooling and dies.
  • Read and apply blueprints, engineering drawings, and setup sheets to plan and execute work.
  • Inspect components with micrometers, calipers, and other precision instruments to verify tolerances.
  • Diagnose die issues and perform effective repairs to protect part quality and production uptime.
  • Collaborate with engineers and shop leads to improve tooling designs and machining processes.
  • Maintain a safe work area, follow 5S principles, and complete documentation accurately.

Must-haves

  • 3+ years of Tool and Die Maker experience.
  • Independent setup and operation of milling and grinding equipment.
  • Strong print reading and interpretation skills.
  • Precision metrology skills and a detail-focused mindset.
  • Proven problem-solver with a hands-on approach.

Bonus points

  • Tool/die design experience; CAD/CAM exposure.
  • Background in metal stamping, forming, or die maintenance/repair.
  • Knowledge of ISO or AS9100D quality systems.
  • CNC milling experience in addition to manual machining.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
