BASIC REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution. Minimum two years continuous work experience post high school; or six months manufacturing experience post high school. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
PREVIOUS QUALIFICATION
• Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment. • Previous monoshell experience or material testing experience. • Quality conscious. • Meticulous with respect to details. • Must be a team player and work in a team environment. • Good mechanical background. • Self-starter that requires little supervision.
POSITION SUMMARY
This 1st shift Jr. Development Technician position will be located in the Howmet Research Center. The position will work in the Develop Services Laboratory (DSL) Monoshell and wax rooms, with the aim of supporting R&D projects and ceramic technologies through careful testing and observations of materials and results.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Weighing and mixing of materials, including use of precision laboratory balances, high-shear mixers, lifts/hoists, and furnaces/ovens. • Understands and applies batch formulas, process directions, product criteria, work instructions, and other documents. • Monoshell mold build and mold dewax. • Performs slurry testing, materials inventory control, calibrations, and recordkeeping. • Uses precision laboratory instruments for measuring material properties. • Develops understanding of slurry behavior and maintenance to aid in process control. • Provides feedback regarding processes, materials, and equipment. • Submitting samples in LIMS and sharing reported results with team members. • Provides feedback regarding work instructions and helps modify as appropriate.

Must be comfortable working in an environment of experimentation, with uncertainty, flexibility, and changing tasks day-to-day. Complies with all EHS rules required for the work environment.
OVERTIME AND SCHEDULE
Overtime, including weekends, possible with varying workload.
