Baltimore, United States | Posted on 06/02/2026We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support HVAC and MEP design for commercial and institutional facility projects. This role is a good fit for an entry-level or early-career engineer with exposure to Revit, AutoCAD, mechanical building systems, and construction documentation.Role FocusHVAC design support for building projectsRevit and AutoCAD drawing productionMEP coordination with internal project teamsLoad calculations, equipment schedules, and ductwork layoutsConstruction documents, code review, and project supportKey ResponsibilitiesAssist with mechanical drawings, models, details, schedules, and construction documents.Support HVAC layouts, ductwork routing, equipment selections, and mechanical system design.Help prepare heating and cooling load calculations, ventilation calculations, and basic energy code documentation.Update drawings based on markups from senior engineers and project managers.Coordinate mechanical design with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and civil teams.Assist with existing condition reviews, field notes, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.Learn internal design standards, quality control procedures, and project delivery workflows.Support permitting, bidding, and construction administration activities as needed.Required Experience0 to 3 years of mechanical engineering or mechanical design experience.Exposure to Revit and AutoCAD through work experience, internships, co-ops, or school projects.Basic understanding of HVAC systems, MEP coordination, ductwork, equipment layouts, or building mechanical systems.Ability to read and develop drawings, schedules, specifications, and technical documentation.Familiarity with load calculations, ventilation requirements, mechanical codes, or construction documents.Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.Strong attention to detail, coachability, and willingness to learn from senior engineers.Preferred ExperienceEIT preferred, or interest in pursuing EIT and future PE licensure.Internship or project experience with commercial, institutional, educational, healthcare, government, or similar facility projects.Exposure to hydronic systems, plumbing coordination, energy codes, controls coordination, or equipment selection.Familiarity with ASHRAE standards, IMC, or other mechanical design codes is a plus.Equal Opportunity StatementDesign Hire is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity / Affcf...
