The Vermont Judiciary seeks a highly responsible and detail-oriented Judicial Assistant to join the Statewide Courts in White River Junction and provide specialized customer support, clerical and data entry work for the Judicial Bureau. The Judicial Assistant supports the effective operation of the courts and upholds the Judiciary’s commitment to providing fair, timely, and accessible justice. Work requires accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to established rules, procedures, and statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have prior administrative or clerical office experience, strong customer service skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality. Essential Duties
This position does not supervise other employees, provide legal advice, or perform the duties of a paralegal or law clerk. Employees may be assigned responsibilities across multiple court divisions and perform additional duties based on operational needs.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, permanent onsite position located in Burlington, Vermont. The role requires sustained attention to detail, extended use of technology, and the ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced setting.
Scheduled hours of work generally follow public court hours; however, assignments may occasionally extend beyond those hours based on operational needs. Occasional travel to other courts within the State of Vermont may be required, with travel reimbursed according to State policies.
The Judicial Assistant is a non-exempt Judicial Branch position equivalent to pay grade 21, with a step 1 starting rate of $25.08 per hour.
