Job Overview Job level: ExperiencedLocation: Jacksonville, FL; MM - Middleburg, FL 32068Position type: Full timeEducation level: Minimum 4‑Year degreeJob category: Field Services/Bridge InspectionWhat You'll Do Perform field inspections as part of a team of engineers.Prepare inspection reports with recommendations for maintenance and repair for all types and sizes of highway and railroad bridges, including fixed bridges (suspension, cable‑stayed, trusses, girder and beam bridges) and movable bridges (vertical lift, swing span, bascule).Prepare and detail engineered repair plans, specifications, construction cost estimates, and bidding documents; produce engineering calculations for repair elements; provide peer review of engineering calculations and design.Conduct analysis and calculations for load‑capacity rating of bridges using computer‑aided and hand calculation methods.Provide bridge construction oversight and monitoring; inspect and document contractor activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications, plans and provisions.Respond to bridge‑related emergencies.Qualifications Minimum of a BS degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.2–5 years of relevant experience in bridge inspection.Coursework focused in structural engineering is preferred.Licensed EI or EIT with the goal of pursuing PE licensure.Must be able to pass a federal security background check for e‑RAILSAFE and TWIC.Attention to detail, strong understanding of structural fundamentals, and high level of initiative.Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, including load paths and member loads.Good command of the English language with strong oral and written communication skills; technical writing proficiency preferred.Ability to read design plans, shop drawings, and as‑built plans.Physical capability to climb ladders, stairways, work from walkways and platforms at high elevations, and operate aerial access equipment.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CADD (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation).Knowledge of construction specifications, manufacturer's technical data, construction contracts, and construction management processes.Working Conditions Combination of office and field duties.Climbing on superstructures and substructures of bridges; comfort with heights.Travel up to 30% of time; overnight stays; potential for short‑term relocation.Partial‑week work from home after 6 months of successful employment.Benefits Competitive compensation.Hybrid work schedule with mentorship and professional growth opportunities.Comprehensive benefits including 401(k), Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and tuition reimbursement.Supportive collaborative team environment.Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.Employer is EOE/M/F/D/V.
