Position Purpose
The Junior Business Applications Developer supports the design, development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of internal business applications, integrations, reports, and automated workflows. This role works with IT team members and business stakeholders to understand operational needs, translate requirements into practical technical solutions, and support reliable day-to-day use of business-critical systems, including Smartware Studio and Microsoft-based productivity platforms. This position is intended for an early-career developer with foundational technical skills, strong problem-solving ability, and a desire to grow in application development, system integration, workflow automation, documentation, and end-user support.
Pay Range: $56,000 - $75,000 plus potential profit share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and support internal business applications, web applications, integrations, automated workflows, and reports using modern programming languages and development frameworks.
- Assist in building and maintaining websites and web applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related technologies.
- Collaborate with IT team members, stakeholders, and project resources to gather requirements, identify process improvement opportunities, and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and reliable code that aligns with business requirements, technical specifications, coding standards, and team practices.
- Test, debug, troubleshoot, and validate applications, integrations, and web-based solutions to prevent issues and maintain reliability, usability, and performance.
- Participate in code reviews, incorporate feedback, and continuously build technical skills in relevant technologies, frameworks, development tools, and best practices.
- Create and maintain clear technical and process documentation for internally developed applications, integrations, workflows, reports, code changes, and support procedures.
- Support Smartware Studio by maintaining part pricing, licensing data, reports, and related business processes.
- Provide end-user technical support by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, application, and access-related issues submitted through the help desk system.
- Follow IT security, access control, data protection, and change management practices when developing, modifying, or supporting business applications, integrations, and systems.
- Monitor and support business-critical applications and systems to help ensure reliability, availability, and optimal performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, Ruby, or a similar language.
- Basic understanding of programming syntax, data structures, algorithms, application development concepts, troubleshooting, debugging, and technical problem solving.
- Basic knowledge of web development technologies, including HTML, CSS3, JavaScript, and related tools used to build and maintain websites and web applications.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, or back-end frameworks such as Node.js or Django.
- Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar database platforms.
- Experience using Git and platforms such as GitHub or GitLab for version control and code collaboration.
- Ability to gather requirements, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and translate business needs into technical tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies, business systems, integrations, automation tools, and development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing applications, services, or integrations using C# and the .NET framework.
- Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs, web services, or third-party platforms.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Experience with content management systems such as WordPress.
- Experience with SharePoint Online administration or development.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API, Azure services, and modern authentication technologies.
- Experience writing SQL queries and supporting relational databases.
- Experience supporting production applications, integrations, ERP systems, or other business-critical platforms.
- Familiarity with Agile development practices.
