Position Summary

The primary responsibility of the Junior Buyer is to support procurement, inventory management, and supply chain operations to ensure uninterrupted production and business continuity.  This position executes purchasing activities, supports material planning, inventory transactions, and supplier coordination while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and strategic projects.  The Junior Buyer works closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Warehouse, Engineering, Finance and suppliers to maintain material availability, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. 

 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Procurement & Material Planning

  • Execute daily purchasing activities to support production requirements and business operations.
  • Process and manage purchase orders for production materials, consumables, MRO items, and marketing/communications-related purchases.
  • Support the transition and execution of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) activities.
  • Monitor supplier performance and expedite materials to meet production schedules.
  • Coordinate transfers of materials to external vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Monitor consumables procurement and Kanban replenishment systems.
  • Support end-of-life (EOL) planning activities and transition planning associated with next generation programs.

Inventory Management

  • Perform cycle count activities and investigate inventory discrepancies.
  • Process inventory adjustments and inventory transaction completions within ERP systems.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through routine audits and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist with material receiving and inventory movement transactions as needed.

Operations Support

  • Provide purchasing and inventory support for manufacturing and warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure material availability and timely resolution of supply issues.
  • Support warehouse activities during periods of increased workload or resource constraints.

Continuous Improvement & Analytics

  • Participate in supply chain, inventory, and operational improvement projects.
  • Develop and maintain reports related to purchasing, inventory, supplier performance, and operational metrics.
  • Analyze procurement and inventory data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support process standardization and implementation of best practices across purchasing and inventory functions.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Purchase order receiving and reconciliation.
  • Inventory transaction processing and record maintenance.
  • Warehouse support activities.
  • Cross-training and backup support for other supply chain functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

·       Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.

·       1–3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, planning, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.

·       Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

·       Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·       Industry experience, preferably in health insurance and/or durable medical equipment

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Exposure to inventory management and cycle counting processes.
  • Understanding of purchasing and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment.
