Junior Database DeveloperLocation: Mayport, FloridaSecurity Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship RequiredPosition OverviewWe areseeking a Junior Database Developer. The Junior Database Developer will design, develop, update, and maintain multi-user technical and administrative database applications. The position will play an important role in automating manual processes, improving data quality, streamlining administrative workflows, and reducing operational redundancies.
Key Responsibilities- Design, build, update, and maintain business databases and web-based applications.
- Support database architecture, development, enhancement, and maintenance activities.
- Modify and enhance existing Microsoft Access applications.
- Perform historical data cleanup, data validation, and report generation.
- Support the existing Microsoft Access Train to Qualify (T2Q) replacement Sailor database servingapproximately 750 Sailors.
- Develop comprehensive workflow analyses using system-study methodologies.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and reduce administrative workload andredundancies.
- Develop reports, queries, forms, scripts, and other database components.
- Collaborate with the Metrics Business Analyst to produce professional graphics, charts, tables, andanalytical products.
- Assist with troubleshooting and resolving database and application issues.Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in database development, computer science, information technology, or arelated computer field, or equivalent military/commercial experience.
- Minimum of 8 years of specialized experience in database development and business analysis.
- Active Secret security clearance required on the first day of performance.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative government-contractor environment.Required Technical SkillsCandidates should have demonstrated proficiency with:
- Microsoft Access
- Structured Query Language (SQL)
- Microsoft SharePoint
- Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
- HyperText Markup Language (HTML)
- Microsoft Office SuitePreferred Experience
- Experience supporting the U.S. Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), or another federalgovernment customer.
- Experience developing and maintaining Microsoft Access databases.
- Experience with database modernization or migration initiatives.
- Experience automating administrative workflows.
- Experience supporting applications with several hundred or more users or records.
- Familiarity with data cleansing, reporting, and visualization.Additional RequirementsThe selected candidate must be able to complete required Navy/COMNAVSURFLANT annual training andcomply with applicable federal workplace, safety, security, and contractor personnel requirements.
